How to reach us…

Acharacle is situated at the east end of the Ardnamurchan Peninsular roughly 40 miles due west of Fort William.

Kentra is a small crofting community some 2 miles north of Acharacle on the B8044 towards Ardtoe. Duneira is the last croft house set back on the west side of the road as you leave Kentra.

By Road:

From the south…

There are two routes from the A82 trunk road which runs north from Glasgow. (By way of Loch Lomond, Crianlarich, Tyndrum and Glencoe.)
Either: cross via the Ferry at Corran to Ardgour, and then travel on the A861 through Strontian and Acharacle.
Or: Continue on the A82 north through Fort William on the road towards Inverness. About 2 miles north of the town turn left at the mini roundabout before the BP station onto the A830 “Road to the Isles”, the Mallaig road. After 25 miles turn left at the Lochailort hotel onto the A861. Follow this for some 18 miles and you will reach the bridge over the Shiel river. About 500 yards further on is the signpost for Kentra, turn right here. Duneira is about 1.25 miles along the road towards Ardtoe from this turning.

From the North…

Turn right off the Main Inverness—Fort William road onto the A 830 “Road to the Isles, at the mini roundabout (By the BP station) two miles from town. (Follow instructions above.)

Public Transport:

By Rail...
Fort William is served by regular train and bus services. Daily trains run from Glasgow. Trains also run on the branch line to Mallaig. (there is a request halt at Lochailort.) An overnight sleeper service operates from London.

By Coach...
Buses operate from Fort William to Inverness, Skye, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Some Glasgow services call at Glasgow airport. The Edinburgh bus services passes by, close to the airport. For Air travellers it is possible to get on/off these, but you will have to walk/taxi 3/4 mile to do so. It is perhaps better to travel by regular airport shuttlebus via the city centre bus station. The Ardnamurchan area is served by the local bus company operated by Shiel Buses. Regular daily services operate to/from Fort William, and Mallaig . On Ardnamurchan a 'peak hour' service connecting the villages does operate, except on Sundays.

There is no official taxi service on Ardnamurchan.
