By Road:

From the south…
There are two routes from the A82 trunk road which runs north from Glasgow to For William (By way of Loch Lomond, Crianlarich, Tyndrum and Glencoe.)
Either: Take the 5 minute Ferry crossing at Corran to Ardgour, and then travel on the A861 through Strontian and Acharacle.

Or: Continue on the A82 north through Fort William ( which leads on eventually to Inverness.) About 2 miles north of the town centre turn left at the new roundabout, just before the BP station,( 24hrs) onto the A830 “Road to the Isles”, the Mallaig road. After 25 miles turn left at the Lochailort hotel onto the A861. Follow this for some 18 miles and you will reach the stone bridge over the Shiel river. About 500 yards further on is the signpost for Kentra, turn right here. The crofts at Kentra are about 1.25 miles along the B8044 towards Ardtoe from this turning. Duneira is the last croft house set back on the west (left) side of the road as you leave Kentra.

From the North…

Turn right off the Main A82 Inverness—Fort William road onto the A 830 “Road to the Isles, at the new roundabout (by the BP station) two miles from town. (Follow instructions above.)

Public Transport:

By Rail…
Fort William is served by regular train and bus services. Daily trains run from Glasgow. Trains also continue from Fort William along the branch line to Mallaig. (There is a request halt at Lochailort.) An overnight sleeper service operates between Fort William and London.

By Bus…
Citylink services operate from Fort William to Inverness, Skye, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Some daily Glasgow services call at Glasgow airport. Edinburgh bus services are routed past the airport, but there are halts near the airport junction.  For Air travelers it is possible to get on/off there, but you would have to walk/taxi  approx 3/4 mile to do so. Regular Airport shuttle buses run from the city centre bus station and one day there may even be trams !

The Ardnamurchan peninsular is served by the local bus company, operated by Shiel Buses. Regular daily services operate from Kilchoan via Acharacle  to/from Fort William, and also to Mallaig . On Ardnamurchan a daily ‘peak hour’ service connecting the villages does operate, except on Sundays.

There is no official taxi service on Ardnamurchan.
